Well, I'm back, kinda sorta. To make a long story short, Walmart was kind enough to let me exchange my PC.

But, Vista is wow, really slow on 512mb. had an extra stick of 512 and stuck it in and my PC wouldn't work. so NOW, what to do.

BUT, at least I'm sitting at my desk and on the Internet. yippee.

Hooked up my old pc(windows 98) at the house; so at least I'm connected. But it was too slow or something, to load my blog page so here I am back at the library. Between the 2 of them, I feel like I've stepped back in time. Yay for fresh new technology !! (when you can get it.)

So, just thought I'd look at some of the artists I admire. It was pretty cool to have stumbled across the Letterists and Alain Satie. And talk about a comprehensive home page. Was visiting an artist friend and it was a special and memorable evening - we went to his (Alain's) site

Dana Frankfurt

I find it fascinating; one artist will make an abstract - some lines here, some color there and we look at it and enjoy the strokes, the placement, etc. Another artist makes an abstract using letters and words - so now we again appreciate the strokes and placement, etc but we can also read what's being said. A deeper concept, don't you think ? Or maybe it's just the opposite. Maybe it's simpler. Normally we look for meaning or at least shapes and our mind searches for solutions or something. Maybe a painting like this is akin to skipping to the end of a book?

Wishing Well

A friend's wishing well, made from landscaping timbers had, of course, turned the usual weathered light boring brown. Somewhere along the line I found 2 very small cans of paint that I thought really matched her house. When you click on the pic to see the larger view, you'll see how hokey I painted this thing. But the overall effect is pretty cool.

More Than Just Interesting

This photo(from anaba.blogspot.com) hits me like a ton of bricks every time I see it. My Father always colored his Bible - each color representing a specific thing. Blue for royalty or grace and so on. When I first saw this I just assumed it was a Bible and that someone else had done the same thing as Dad. But no, it's an English-Japanese dictionary. And this just completely upends my little mind. To me it makes complete sense to color code a Bible. But a dictionary ??

And I had never really noticed the similar way that they're formatted - the twin columns on each page. . . . .
