Good Ride

I've seen my share of "trick" skateboard videos and they're all nice enough, but this particular film really caught my eye. It's what you might call a "slow" burner. If you'll just relax for a minute (actually a bit over 5 minutes) and let this video take you, it won't be long till you're really appreciating this young man's skills. This has a very authentic feel to it.

Found this on Freunde von Freunden.

Night Flight

Time for a short mental break.

How wonderful for us to have visuals like this so we can reconsider our political, social, religious and personal positions; it's always good to see the bigger picture.

Inspiration

One of my all-time favorite songs.

Instead of jogging, I used to go down to the track, find a spot, don my headphones, close my eyes and dance my butt off and I remember this song well.
And in this video, she's not a kid anymore - but it's her song and she sure owns it !

If you miss hearing the original sweet guitar solo after the rapping part, go here.

Life Of A Bug

.
Remember when you were little and how you could mentally transpose yourself into the games or toys you were playing with ? And remember how you could watch a bug or ant or for that matter any animal, with total empathy ? Sometimes we entertain thoughts of how very similar our lives are to other creatures and this first video does a great job of revisiting those feelings.

Thought this video would be a good way to start the year.
This reminds us of exploration and discovery (and boredom).

Good-bye Number 9

.
It's hard to believe that the first decade of the new millennium, which is now being called the Aughties, is over and done and a new section of time begins. As each year passes away we take time to reflect and redouble our effort to do better in the new year. This process is even more special when we mark the passing/beginning of a ten year period. I hope you've enjoyed the Holidays and wish you a wonderful New Year. Thank You for your support.

This tilt/shift, time-lapse video of Mardi Gras by Keith Loutit seems quite apropos.
Turn up the volume and enjoy !

Lovely Musical Interlude

.
This tilt shift - time lapse video starts out tame enough with some still shots and then really breaks loose at 1 min, 28 seconds.

I especially like the last 40-some seconds; it makes us reflect on "all-in-a-days-work" in a different way.

Surreal Perspectives

.
The music beautifully sets a mood for the changing scenarios in this video. Yes, it's all real. Or rather, I should say it's surreal to see ourselves as little toys. And this particular perspective allows us to see how large amounts of water act the same as smaller amounts.
You can check out Keith Loutit's Website for more.

Twenty-First Century Thinking

This has to be the most refreshing thing I've seen and heard since I can't remember when. Finally, fresh thinking about and old idea.

This is absolutely amazing !

Finger Boarding

.
After showing this to my nephew, Jonathan, he got all inspired and built himself a bunch of cardboard ramps and did his own "tricks". You can see the video of him on my Sept 30, 07 post. You'll see that right in the middle a wheel comes off, which pretty much ends it.

Here's the original, inspiring video.
