Paintings of Dots and Blobs

Helmut Dorner goes to extremes with his love of paint. On the one hand he presents us with these servings of paint on Plexiglas; so bright and light, like appetizers. And then, sure enough, he serves up a heavy meal with other smaller paintings that can only be described as impasto on steroids(not shown). The image to your left shows you how wonderfully and simply he presents his work. There's not much to distract us from appreciating the paint and the pattern.

The top image is from Galerie Grasslin where you'll want to peruse all 51 examples of his oeuvre.

James Kelly Contemporary has a dozen examples of his heavier works.

His Show at Iris Kadel and press release give more insight into his thinking
