Contemporary Collage

.
What we have here is another specialist. Actually I like to think of artists like this as scientists. Here's Cecil Touchon in his studio/laboratory now, exploring the nether regions of his oeuvre. And what he's been studying is collage, shapes and form. There's a lot of Ying and Yang to his work; black and white, bright vs dark, positive and negative space and the placement of shapes, all vying for attention and yet coalescing into lovely symphonies and songs of visual delight. All of it seems to be alive, vibrant. Some pieces almost writhe and wiggle with excitement. Why haven't we heard or seen more of him ?
.

So I'll let you check out his web site for yourself. You'll be completely delighted with his work. The site itself could use a tune up though. When you click on Paintings or the Papiers Colles, there's a number index and you have to keep going back and forth between the image and the number index. But it is very much worth it. And under the Exhibitions heading, you'll absolutely want to check out his Solo Exhibitions.
What struck me as fascinating was the similar flavor there is between Cecil's work and that of Ciao Fonseca. Check it out - you'll see what I mean. We're talking two different approaches and types of work and yet there is a kinship. Go to Ciao Fonseca's site here.
