This is John Belingheri and the images are from the Andrea Schwartz Gallery. Give them a look, you'll find an unusual stable of artists.
Why pointillism ? Actually, some
called it Division ism. Whether it was small dots of paint or single separated brush strokes the idea was to break the painting down into it's basic component - each stroke or application of paint. In a way, it's kinda like giving yourself a
handicap
and then seeing how good you can do - stretching yourself. And we all know how beautiful those paintings were by the early pointillists. And as always is the case, someone will take the idea further; take off in a different direction looking for different answers.

So here, instead of all the individual strokes or dots of paint combining to make a recognizable scene, we're faced with and left with just the dots themselves. What does it mean ? It means you just look and see the colors of these repeated shapes and appreciate them for what they are.
